REBY'S WEALTH WISDOM BLOGSubmitted by Reby Advisors | Certified Financial Planners | Danbury, CT on November 7th, 2013
Well, this is it! This is the beginning of a journey of shared thoughts and opinions from a nearly three-decade veteran in the financial planning industry.
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Bob Reby, the founder, President and CEO of Reby Advisors, a Western Connecticut based wealth management firm. For over three decades our mission has been to “To inspire people to achieve financial peace of mind.” We strive to minimize the risks to our clients’ lifestyle.
There is a financial planning crisis in America. According to Employee Benefit Research Group in their 2010 Retirement Confidence Survey, the percentage of Americans with little or no savings set aside for retirement is: 27% report having less than $1,000 in savings, 43% say they have less than $10,000 set aside, and more than half (54%) have less than $25,000 saved. The statistics are even worse for single people. According to the New York Times “85 percent of married Americans were saving for retirement, compared with 67 percent of singles, across all age groups.” The number of people unprepared is simply too high and we intend to contribute in the effort to change that statistic. Many low income, middle class and even people that have accumulated wealth are not aware of or adequately prepared for all of the risks that await them. The good news is, that for most people, it is not too late to make changes that can potentially affect the outcome. I hope to inspire everyone into taking control of his or her finances.
I will be discussing many issues, topics and opinions here in my blog. However, your individual circumstances are unique and therefore my opinions are to be only considered as general in nature. I encourage people to use these insights as an inspiration to get on track but also seek out qualified, professional advice when needed. Nobody has to do it alone and you never get a second chance to do it right the first time.
